Snow Storms Impact US flights

Nov 26, 2018 | News

As the Thanksgiving weekend came to a close on Sunday, airline flights faced delays and cancellations in the US Midwest due to a winter storm.

Across the US, more than 1,250 flights had been canceled on Sunday and another 4,775 delayed, with nearly 275 U.S. flights preemptively being canceled for Monday.

The biggest overall impact to air freight industry was in Chicago, where more than 790 combined arrivals and departures had been canceled.

With an estimated 51 million Americans visiting family and friends during the Thanksgiving holiday, 14 million were under a blizzard warning, as a storm brought snow, wind and rain to large stretches of the Midwest.

Forecasts say snowfall totals of 6 to 10 inches are possible with some areas possibly receiving as much as a foot of snow within the next 12 to 24 hours.

Some delays may impact air freight arrivals from the US but Uniserve are monitoring the situation closely through our regional teams, if you require further information then please contact your local Uniserve representative.
