New System Delays Felixstowe

A new operating system at Felixstowe is reportedly responsible for current delays at the port, as drivers face queues to collect and deliver containers.
Turnaround times on the quay have been ranging from 15 minutes up to 12 hours, despite claims on local radio of one hour averages.
The delays are currently making it extremely difficult to plan container transport collection and delivery times due to the uncertainty of how long vehicles will need to wait for equipment.
A post on social media yesterday (below) showed an image of drivers queuing at the Felixstowe Port customer service desk, which demonstrates some of the issues currently facing transport companies.
Some steamship lines responded yesterday by making their own announcements that collections, deliveries and even vessel arrivals, may be delayed over the next few days.
It is currently unclear how long the current delays will continue and whether there will be any backlogs to clear, but Uniserve are advising customers to be prepared for the ‘prospect’ of further delays over the next few days.
