As the Coronavirus situation in China deteriorates by the day, the Chinese authorities have extended the Chinese New Year’s holiday in aid of containing the virus. The holiday will now extend through to Monday the 3rd February.

Jiangsu & Zhejiang province have announced a further holiday extension lasting until Sunday the 9th February.  There are further indications that other regional governments  are set to follow suit. 

It is too early to confirm the full impact this will have on international freight. Should things continue on the current course, the industry should prepare for major disruption.  As the situation develops, Uniserve will continue publishing the latest updates including the impact on each origin and our clients individual shipments.  Given the rate at which the number of cases seem to be spreading, it is possible that the disruption could be spread nationwide.

Our partners are working to keep us updated and will work remotely where possible to ensure we can support our clients supply chains.  As the situation starts to recover, we are sure there will be peaks in demand which the Uniserve team will of course manage and keep our clients updated on.

Naturally this is a very difficult time for all our friends and colleagues in China and our thoughts and support goes out to them all.
