Uniserve’s Airline Services Operations (ASO) team recently completed the urgent expedition of two Rolls Royce engines to Shanghai on behalf of China Eastern Airlines.

The movement of the Airbus aircraft engines presented our team, who specialise in Aircraft On Ground services, with many challenges due to the size of each piece and the weight totalling 28,000 Kgs, but nothing that they couldn’t handle.

Naturally, the consignment needed to move via freighter aircraft as it was far too large for passenger flights. We needed to get the engines to their destination within 24 hours, this resulted in us choosing to move the product to Glasgow Prestwick Airport for export departure that day.

The collection, from the East Midlands, had to be delicately arranged using air-ride suspension vehicles and step trailers. Since the engines would be over hanging each vehicle, we were also required to provide an escort to ensure a safe and secure transit all the way to Prestwick.

The engines started their incredible journey by travelling overnight to arrive for Friday morning, which was just in time for a flight to Shanghai.

This all moved seamlessly resulting in our team receiving a big thank you from a very happy client.
