Pakistan Extends Air Space Ban

Due to ongoing geopolitical tension, Pakistan has extended its airspace ban for all flights operating in and out of India, until May 30th.
The ban was originally introduced 2 months ago, in the aftermath of the Pulwama terror attack and the subsequent airstrike in Balakot, and resulted in immediate challenges moving air freight to and from the Indian sub continent, in particular the North of India.
Air freight pricing from the region increased as capacity was squeezed following the initial cancellation of flights and the increased fuel needed for longer flying times. This was then compounded by the suspension of all Jet Air flights due to financial difficulties and in some regions the recent impact of Cyclone Fani.
While the situation has improved slightly since March, it has not returned to the levels witnessed prior to the airspace ban.
Our Regional General Management (RGM) team for the Indian Sub- continent continue to work to minimise the impact to our customers and will keep us up to date with any developments.
