Felixstowe Delays May Continue

Jul 5, 2018 | News

We reported last month that the introduction of a new operating system at Felixstowe was reported to be causing delays at the port. The most recent news appears to suggest that there is no immediate end in sight to the issues.

The disruption, which is often resulting in lengthy delays in collecting or delivering containers, has seen a number of carriers reroute vessels recently.

MSC, one of the port’s regular customers, this week confirmed that two more vessels would be diverted to London Gateway and Southampton. In some cases carriers have discharged UK bound cargo on the continent and relayed containers back to the UK via feeder vessels.

Today, The Loadstar reported that the port “could face another two months of turmoil following the troubled implementation of a new terminal operating system last month”.

Uniserve are monitoring the situation closely and are continuing to manage the situation through our facilities in Felixstowe, Southampton & Tilbury.  If you require further information then please contact your local Uniserve representative.
