Weather Impacts Ports

by | Jan 25, 2017

Freezing conditions in the UK’s South East are having an impact on airports and ports, with weather conditions set to continue over the next 48 hours.

Dense fog has continued to disrupt London’s runways with more than 100 departures from Heathrow and London City being cancelled.

Freezing fog has caused congestion at the port of Southampton over the past 3 days, the terminal is now over burdened with export traffic and minimal imports have been loaded to delivery vehicles. The port opened this morning at 0830, but operations were looking to clear a backlog of 400 containers before the import loading could restart.

Felixstowe has also been affected by heavy fog overnight and in the early hours of this morning. The port had to put a halt on operations due to a lack of visibility. They are now working, however, this is under caution so progress is very slow.

We will of course notify any customers that have been directly impacted by this, but if you require further information then please do not hesitate to contact your local Uniserve representative.
