WATCH: FMDC Warehouse Team Pass First VNA Abseiling Course

In preparation for the opening of our new Felixstowe Mega Distribution Centre, Uniserve’s very own MHE instructors Barry Squelch (pictured) and Steve Surridge have been busy providing high risk abseiling training to our three new warehouse operatives – Inga Bruzaite (pictured), Eduards Gordejevs and Antanas Notkus.
The training is essential for our Forklift Operatives, as they will need to know what to do as a last means of escape from the VNA (Very Narrow Aisle) trucks in the event of a failure of the equipment in an emergency situation. It is essential that our operatives know how to get out of the trucks safely and securely.
With support and encouragement from our instructors, our warehouse staff have learned how to safely abseil up to 12m in the air. If you’re not afraid of heights, take a look at our team in action:
The training is a mixture of theory and practical and normally gets completed in half a day with a certificate presented on completion.
Our instructors are qualified to provide a range of MHE training & H&S training for warehouse staff, including:
- Abseiling
- Forklift
- Reach truck
- Dock levellers
- Fire Marshall
- Manual Handling
By providing the latest ongoing training, we can maximise productivity while investing in our staff. Operatives at all of our warehouses receive regular training, with abseiling refreshers every 6 months.
Uniserve have a number of vacancies available at the FMDC and beyond. If you would like to know about our current opportunities, please visit our Careers page.
