Uniserve sponsors the British Citizen Awards 2024 and presents Medal of Honour

Uniserve is proud to have sponsored the British Citizen Awards (BCA) again this year.
Known as ‘The People’s Honours’, the awards highlight individuals who make our society and communities special places to live. The honours rewards those who have made a positive impact and gives them the recognition they deserve.
We were delighted to be involved in recognising and honouring those who go above and beyond, inspiring positive change and making a lasting impact on their communities. Leighton Bonnett, Uniserve’s Director of Airfreight, presented the BCA Medal of Honour to four deserving winners.
Tahir Mahmood Malik BCAc, from Bedfordshire, received The British Citizen Award for Services to Community (BCAc). Tahir has undertaken voluntary work in the community for 25 years and with the help of the local community raised over £100,000 for various charities. He also organises youth sports tournaments, community events and promotes the use of the communal fitness equipment in the local park.
Terry Hall BCAc, from Derbyshire, received The British Citizen Award for Services to Community (BCAc). Terry helped establish a permanent memorial to the victims of a wartime crash near the outskirts of his village in Stanely which occurred 60 years earlier. He played a leading role in the erection of a memorial tablet, listing the names of those aboard the downed aircraft.
After 30 years serving in the Royal Navy, Terry has been active in a number of organisations dedicated to helping ex-forces personnel. Terry has supported the Poppy Appeal for over half-a-century and acts as the appeal organiser for Stanley Village Area.
Warren Schofield BCAc, from Essex, received The British Citizen Award for Services to Community (BCAc). After being asked by his local gym to inject himself “behind closed doors”, Warren was spurred on to speak out about his condition and the serious consequences if diabetes type 1 is not treated quickly and correctly. Warren developed and self-funded Diabetic First Aid Boxes, containing lifesaving glucose gels, glucose tabs, needles and much more, then distributed them to venues across the UK.
Warren has been helping type 1 diabetic sufferers since his own diagnosis when he was 13 years old. Now 28, he has gained over 10,000 followers online, many of whom he guides on their diverse, unique and often painful journeys.
Michael Jeffery BCAv, from Bridgend, received The British Citizen Award for Services to Volunteering & Charitable Giving (BCAv). Michael is a military veteran who likes to serve and support his community. Prior to leading the Cardiff City Football Club Foundation Veterans Hub, he spent seven years supporting NEET’s young people. Michael also supports veterans and their families post-service with Mental Health and Wellbeing. He also supports people in prison and those who are vulnerable.
Mike is equally passionate about volunteering for the Western Beacons Mountain Rescue Team, covering the largest areas in South Wales. During the last 14 years, he has been a stalwart within the organisation which can be called out several times a week by the emergency services; it really is a 24/7 responsibility.
A huge congratulations to all winners – you really make society a better place for all.
