Half a Century for Leighton
Leighton Bonnett, our Airfreight Director, reached a very special milestone this month as he celebrated his 50th birthday, with almost half of that time being employed by Uniserve.
Leighton joined our sales team way back in 1994, before moving over to operations, and eventually an operational board position with responsibility for our award winning airfreight products.
He is a great example of our internal development initiatives, as Leighton had no previous experience of logistics and had previously worked in accounting and sales positions outside of the industry.
He is seen centrally in the accompanying picture, receiving the ‘2016 BIFA Air Cargo Service Award‘ last month from Sharon Davies MBE. Uniserve won the airfreight category for a record breaking fifth time, a testament to Leighton’s astute leadership.
The multi-award winning airfreight team presented him with a ‘fitbit’ tracker to celebrate the momentus occasion, and Leighton certainly seems to have taken the activity hint on board, as he spent his birthday week away with family on a skiing holiday!
