The Challenge

As COVID-19 swept across the globe, the UK faced an unprecedented crisis: frontline workers urgently needed PPE and medical supplies, but traditional supply chains were overwhelmed. In March 2020, the DHSC turned to Uniserve, alongside other global logistics leaders – for immediate, large-scale support.

Our Response

Uniserve mobilised instantly. Drawing on our global network, deep logistics expertise, and agile technology, we took full control of the UK Government’s international medical supply chain. Our mission: deliver critical supplies, fast.

We provided a fully integrated solution, including:

  • End-to-end supply chain management from 350+ global suppliers
  • Freight, logistics, and vendor coordination across air, sea, and rail
  • Data analytics, quality control, and full traceability
  • One World technology for real-time visibility and control

The Results

Uniserve delivered one of the largest emergency logistics operations in UK history:

  • 35 billion units of PPE and test kits
  • 1,500 full air charters of medical equipment
  • 2,500 rail containers from China
  • 15,000 ocean freight containers

Our rapid-response teams worked around the clock to ensure frontline workers were protected. With resilience, innovation, and precision, we helped the DHSC navigate a global crisis – and build a supply chain that delivered when it mattered most.
