Classic DB4 Incredible Journey

Uniserve recently imported a rare 1963 Aston Martin DB4 Special Series Vantage classic car from New Zealand.
The DB4 was headed for restoration work in South East England after its 12,000 mile ocean journey from the port of Lyttelton, near Christchurch, in New Zealand.
Aston Martin only made 136 DB4 Vantage models during 1961 to 1963 and this classic car is believed to be valued at over £1million.
Uniserve’s door-to-door service included:
- Collection on a specialised vehicle intended for high value car carriage.
- Secure storage and handling at our New Zealand facilities.
- Lashing and securing the car into 1 x 20ft container.
- Ocean freight for the 6 week journey.
- Collection from Southampton port on a Uniserve Group vehicle.
- Unloading into our Customs Bonded Warehouse.
- Customs clearance including the suspension of duty payments as temporarily imported.
- Insurance and all of the admin.
The client was delighted and the car was handed over in the same condition as it was received in from the seller in New Zealand.
Scott Baker, Uniserve Seafreight General Manager, commented “It’s a great responsibility to be trusted with a beacon of British heritage”.
“This really was a job for the professionals. With six weeks on high seas, it is incredibly important to ensure the lashing and securing minimises the movement to avoid any damage”.
“We have a great deal of experience in these type of projects, so everything went typically to plan”.
