Degree Gets Green Light!
The degree apprenticeship proposal, chaired by the Supply Chain Academy and Uniserve Group, was today given government approval and listed as the occupational qualification for Supply Chain & Logistics.
In a letter to Paul Stone, Uniserve Group HR Director, from the Department for Education today, it was confirmed that the Minister of State for Skills had approved our Supply Chain Leadership Apprentice proposal.
Degree Apprenticeships are designed to bring together the best of higher and professional education, and see apprentices achieving a full bachelor’s or master’s degree as part of their apprenticeship.
Paul commented “This is great news for Uniserve Group and the Academy, but more importantly this is great news for the industry and for supply chain business in the UK”.
He added “We expect this apprenticeship to go a long way towards addressing the growing skills and management gap in the supply chain sector, so it should be welcome news for all”.
Alex Mortimer, Supply Chain Academy Commercial Director stated “This is professionalising the industry. Achieving this qualification should provide employers with confidence that the individual has the required understanding of the ‘end to end’ supply chain”.
The degree apprenticeship proposal, submitted in conjunction with Leeds Trinity University and in consultation with over one hundred organisations, is expected to be available from September.
The qualification will involve employers, universities and professional bodies working in partnership, with apprentices employed throughout, spending part of their time at university and part with their employer.
Its still not too late to get involved with this project. If you would like to know more then please contact us on 01708 259450 or info@supplychainacademy.org.uk.
