by | Feb 25, 2017

Alex Mortimer, our Supply Chain Academy Director, attended his first meeting this week since his recent election to the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) council. Alex was appointed following a contested election in which CBI members across the region voted.

In his new role, Alex will be part of a network of more than 600 senior business executives that play a leading role in influencing the UK policy landscape at regional and national level.

Amongst other things, CBI regional councillors provide strategic advice on issues concerning or impacting on business, ensure that the needs of business in the region and our views on local issues are properly understood and represented and promote the wider interests and welfare of industry and commerce.

Alex also sits on the Operating Board of the Uniserve Group – with responsibilities for commercial activities for the Supply Chain Academy.

Uniserve group employs over nine hundred people in the UK and many more around the globe. Our commitment to continuous improvement is not just aimed towards our own staff but also towards advancing our profession as a whole. This is evidenced through our commitment and investment in the Supply Chain Academy.

Commenting about his election, Alex said: “Its a great honour to be appointed to the council, especially knowing that you have the support of fellow CBI members. I am very much looking forward to getting started and working with a great network of innovative business people.
