Fuel Duty Frozen
Chancellor Phillip Hammond announced a freeze on fuel duty for a seventh consecutive year during his Autumn Statement recently. However freight and transport groups are reportedly suggesting that he did not go far enough to aid struggling smaller transport and freight operators.
While fuel duty is no longer recognised as a ‘sin tax’, like alcohol and tobacco duty, and is now seen as a core burden on families and businesses, the RHA (Road Haulage Association) had argued a cut should have been made. Especially considering the recent rise in insurance premiums.
