French strike action aims to ground all transport

French Unions are calling for widespread strike action on the 19th January, which is largely in protest against the French government’s plan to increase the retirement age from 62 to 64.
GT-RATP, which represents Paris transport workers, has said: “We are expecting a strong mobilisation among employees. Our objective is to reach a ‘zero transport’ situation”.
The timescales of the widespread strikes are unknown currently but workers in the fuel and energy sectors are also being encouraged to join the strikes, resulting in expected fuel shortages and power cuts throughout France.
Uniserve will be monitoring the situation closely and is committed to keeping our customers fully informed and devising solutions to help keep disruption to supply chains to a minimum.
