Liverpool Dock Workers To Strike Again Amidst No Deal On Pay

Liverpool dock workers announced yesterday that they would strike again amidst no deal being reached on pay.
The strike which will begin on October 11th, 2022 and finish on October 17th and is expected to cause chaos amongst supply chains so close to the Christmas period.
The announcement came as Felixstowe dock workers embark on their second wave of strike action, which started on the 27th September and will resume on the 5th October.
Liverpool’s Unite members rejected Peel Ports Groups original offer of an 8.3% rise and a one off payment of £750 and are still no further forward in reaching a conclusion, pushing for a wage rise to match the current inflation.
David Huck, the port’s chief operating officer, appealed to the workers to put a halt to their current strike action and return to the port, so that they could reach an agreement, but the strike is still very much underway, scheduled to finish on the 3rd October.
Advice is that supply chains should prepare themselves for vessels being rerouted and further delays.
Here at Uniserve, we are committed to keeping your supply chains moving, which is why we have many contingency options in place to keep disruptions to a minimum.
