Floods in Zhengzhou cause significant freight delays
Flooding in the Chinese city of Zhengzhou has put already stretched Far East supply chains under further strain. Zhengzhou, a major air and rail freight hub, has experienced record flooding since the weekend, with more heavy rain expected in the coming days.
Our contacts in Zhenghzhou – the capital of Henan province – have reported that traffic has been disrupted due to high water levels and collapsed roads, with delays expected to inland transport for at least 2-3 days. The extreme conditions have, very sadly, resulted in a number of deaths in the city.
Ground operations at Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport have been affected, with 107 out of 622 export flights cancelled so far. Customs systems have also been hit, while all cargo railway stations are currently below water.
If you would like to discuss any concerns, please contact the UniAir team via your usual operational contact, or via our commercial team at airquote@ugroup.co.uk.
Our thoughts are with our customers, colleagues, family and friends at this challenging time.
