Bangladesh Goes Back Into Lockdown
The Bangladeshi government has imposed a strict seven-day lockdown which started on 1st July at 06:00. This is to help curb the spread of Covid-19 following a recent rise in infections. While certain sectors have been forced to close, all ports and related offices are exempt.
Although the Port of Chittagong remains open and all forms of cargo vessels have been allowed to operate as normal, we anticipate that there may be disruption. We are monitoring closely to mitigate any possible productivity issues during lockdown.
Operations including Off dock, Terminals, Warehousing, Depots, and other facilities related to shipping will continue to operate following health and safety guidelines. However, there may be some labour shortages, while Customs offices will operate reduced hours.
Uniserve continues to work closely with its network to monitor the situation and advises customers to contact their Customer Development Manager for updates or to discuss any concerns.
Don’t forget that Uniserve offer a range of outstanding airfreight services to complement your existing ocean / land supply chain solutions.
