End in sight for Ever Given saga
The saga of the Ever Given may finally be entering its last chapter following an agreement in principle between the ship owners and the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) in respect to the SCA’s claims regarding costs and compensation.
The vessel has been under arrest in the Great Bitter Lake anchorage, Egypt, ever since it was freed from the Suez Canal earlier this year where it had been blocking the vital trade waterway for several days.
An official notice from Evergreen indicated that a final formal settlement agreement is currently under negotiation between the ship owner and the SCA, which would ultimately lead to the release of the Ever Given.
It’s understood that it may still take some further time for the agreement to be concluded, for the vessel to be released from arrest and prepared for onward transit.
