Thruxton - 8th June
Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport endured a challenging weekend at Thruxton in the 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship. Despite facing various issues, reigning champion Jake Hill managed to secure two solid top six finishes after overcoming adversity.
The weekend at Thruxton, hosting the fourth round of the championship, featured unpredictable weather conditions. Saturday began with dry weather that soon turned into torrential rain during qualifying. Driving the rear-wheel drive BMW 330i M Sport prepared by WSR, Jake Hill struggled with aquaplaning at speeds exceeding 140mph, unlike his front-wheel drive competitors who were less affected.
Qualifying in P8, just missing the ‘Quick Six’ shootout, Jake started Race 1 strongly but was pushed onto the grass by a competitor, costing him positions. Despite this setback, he fought back to finish in P6.
In Race 2, starting from P6, Jake engaged in a fierce battle for the podium, exchanging positions with Dan Rowbottom throughout the race. Despite losing rear grip towards the end, he crossed the line in P6, later upgraded to P5.
Race 3 saw Jake starting third due to the reverse grid draw. After initially leading, a safety car period and tire temperature issues dropped him down the order. A collision with Ash Sutton further hampered his race, relegating him to P18 by the end.
Despite the mixed results, Jake Hill sits fifth in the Drivers’ Championship standings. Looking ahead to Round 5 at Oulton Park, scheduled for 21–22 June, the team remains determined to improve their performance.

Snetterton - 25th May
Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport faced a tough weekend at Snetterton in the third round of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship, managing just twelve points across two races. After a strong showing at Brands Hatch, the team encountered setbacks with Jake Hill leading FP1 and finishing P6 in FP2 despite challenges managing the Toca Turbo Boost (TTB) handicap. Qualifying proved difficult, leaving Jake starting race one from P20.
Race one saw Jake making an impressive start but was unfortunately taken out by a rival, forcing a pit stop for repairs and a 22nd place finish. Despite this, he rebounded in race two with an impressive drive, climbing from the back to finish 11th. In race three, Jake fought hard to secure ninth place, marking the team’s first race day without a top-five finish since Oulton Park in 2022.
Despite the challenges, Jake remains third in the Drivers’ Championship standings after three rounds. Looking ahead to Thruxton in June, Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport is focused on returning to competitive form.
Jake Hill reflected: “It’s been one of the toughest weekends of my touring car career. We’ve learned a lot, and despite the difficulties, we’re making progress with both the car and the team.”

Brands Hatch Indy - 11th May
Laser Tools Racing, partnered with MB Motorsport and Jake Hill, made a triumphant return to the forefront of the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch. They clinched pole position, secured a victory, achieved second place, and finished eighth in the second round of the 2025 season.
This marked the team’s rebound from a disappointing start to the season, especially significant as it unfolded at Jake’s and the team’s home circuit in Kent. Saturday’s qualifying session highlighted Jake’s stellar performance in the WSR-run BMW 330i M Sport, where he captured his fourth BTCC pole position, a first at Brands Hatch, setting the stage for a promising race day ahead.
Sunday saw Jake dominate with a lights-to-flag victory in Race One, his first win of the 2025 campaign and his 21st career BTCC win, adding to his impressive 60 podium finishes overall in the series. Despite challenges in Race Two due to new tyre rules, Jake’s resilient drive earned him a hard-fought eighth place finish.
His strong performance also secured a front-row start for Race Three through a reverse grid draw. In a thrilling finale, Jake battled fiercely for second place, showcasing exceptional defensive skills to secure another podium finish.
Jake’s weekend haul of 48 points propelled him to third in the Drivers’ Championship standings with a total of 80 points, just 12 points behind the leader. The team now looks ahead to the next round at Snetterton on 24-25 May, aiming to build on their early-season success.

Donington Park - 27th April
Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport kicked off their 2025 British Touring Car Championship campaign with a solid points haul at Donington Park, continuing their strong record at the Leicestershire circuit.
In Saturday’s free practice sessions, Jake Hill, behind the wheel of the WSR-run BMW 330i M Sport, recorded P14 and P6 finishes as the team fine-tuned the car. Hill went on to secure P8 in qualifying, setting the stage for a competitive Sunday.
Race One saw Jake make a fast start, climbing from P8 and taking advantage of a Safety Car to pick off rivals. A post-race penalty for Tom Chilton promoted Hill to P4, marking a strong opening result.
In Race Two, Hill launched from the second row and surged into P3 at the first corner. He kept pace with the leaders throughout but was edged out of a podium finish in the closing laps, crossing the line in P4 once again.
Starting P3 in the reverse-grid Race Three, Hill ran near the front early on. However, after contact with a rival, he slipped down the order, ending the day in P10.
Despite some setbacks, Hill’s consistent performance puts him sixth in the Drivers’ Standings with 32 points. The team now shifts focus to the next round at Brands Hatch Indy, 10–11 May.
Jake Hill said: “We worked hard all weekend and collected valuable data. There’s still more to come, and we’ll be pushing for the front at Brands Hatch.”
