COVID-19: Italian lock down & trade lane logistics

Italy has extended its emergency Coronavirus measure and has effectively put the whole country in to lock down.
Uniserve are in constant contact with our Partners and contacts in Italy. Our team will continue to share as much information as possible regarding what is happening on the ground and how it is affecting business and supply chains.
The Civil Protection has enacted an ordinance which establishes that the proposed government measures do not apply to the transit and transport of goods, and to the whole logistic chain. Therefore, vehicles with goods in Italy can currently move both locally and internationally.
Our drivers in Italy have been advised to follow the recommended hygiene standards which include the frequent washing of hands, use of protective masks and avoiding close contact with staff. Uniserve will be asking our clients to confirm if their consignees are going to accept loads before attempting deliveries, and that hygiene procedures are in place at the point of delivery.
Due to the restrictions in place imposed by the Italian authorities, there will be a significant reduction in the availably of drivers and equipment for Italian transport. Subsequently, it is prudent to expect escalating costs and additional administration to manage this challenging situation.
We are focused on managing the risk and keeping you and our clients informed. We encourage our clients whose businesses rely on transportation to or from Italy to reach out to us for scheduling updates. Rest assured that we are working around the clock to deliver & collect products in in Italy.
If you require any specific updates please do not hesitate to contact the Uniserve Coronavirus Helpline team on 01375 851 346 or by emailing us at info@ugroup.co.uk
