COVID-19: Virus cluster in Italy impacts the flow of products

Uniserve are keeping in close contact with our partners, customers and suppliers in Italy and will continue to feed the latest updates as the situation develops. Our European team are actively monitoring the European markets to give accurate forecasts based on the changing impact of COVID-19 in Europe, whilst preparing solutions to support all our customers.
The COVID-19 virus has rapidly spread in Italy. The country is faced with the biggest cluster of infections outside of China, the first EU member state to see citizens die from the virus.
Italy has seen a sharp rise in the number of COVID-19 cases, with 229 infected and 7 fatalities according to statistics this morning.

The EU has pledged €230 million to fight the outbreak in Italy and elsewhere.
No restrictions have yet been imposed on travel or the flow of trade, however logistical delays are a likely consequence of lock-down precautions. Italian authorities have placed 11 towns under lock-down north of the country in a bid to curb the spread of the virus. A “2 week” quarantine has been imposed on the following areas:
In the Lombardy Region: – Lodi Province – Between Crema & Piacenza
a) Bertonico;
b) Casalpusterlengo;
c) Castelgerundo;
d) Castiglione D’Adda;
e) Codogno;
f) Fombio;
g) Maleo;
h) San Fiorano;
i) Somaglia;
j) Terranova dei Passerini.
In the Veneto Region:
1) Vò; (commune in the Province of Padua in the Italian Veneto region, located about 50 kilometres west of Venice).
