Coronavirus- Uniserve help import Protective Suits
Over the last two weeks Uniserve have worked in conjunction with a major healthcare business in China to move protective suits from UK and European suppliers in to the country whilst domestic factories have been closed over the Chinese New Year. Working via a number of charters, and the limited scheduled passenger and freighter capacity available, it is estimated that we have helped move approximately 10% of the import of these products since late January.
On Monday 10th February, 77% of factories producing Protective Suits returned to work in China despite the rapid spread of the virus. The industry is now a fundamental priority, helping equip the country with the essential means to contain the epidemic spread. Food factories and those producing essential daily use products are likely to follow suit in re-opening to help sustain the demand. Exports of face masks, goggles and protective gloves have been forbidden until the domestic needs of China are fulfilled.
Yesterday a further 40 flights carried 6000 medical workers from different cities into Wuhan, the epicentre of the outbreak. The city has opened student dormitory buildings from 4 Wuhan universities to be used as temporary hospitals. The buildings will provide an additional 1000 sickbeds for infected patients.
British Airways announced yesterday that they are cancelling all flights to / from Shanghai and Beijing through to the end of March 2020, further cancellations are expected across all carriers. Clients are advised to reach out to their account managers for up to date information and scheduling.
