French Transport Strike From 5th December

Nov 28, 2019 | News

As things stand right now, there is likely to be a major transport strike in France on Thursday 5th of December, which could extend further into the run up to Christmas.

The strike is due to commence on Thursday 5th December 2019 and is expected to continue into the following day, with some organisations describing the length of the action as ‘open-ended’.

What started as a transport protest by the state owned SNCF and RATP organisations over pension reform, has now escalated into a national strike that may also include heavy goods drivers, airline ground staff, farmers, hospitals, schools and police stations.

Major cities are expected to be heavily disrupted as farmers are planning to set up blockades on all linked motorways, so movement in and out could be non existent.

Although the French government and unions could come to an agreement, Uniserve are suggesting that importers and exporters talk to us now about planning to avoid any delays. For more information please contact your local Uniserve representative or email info@ugroup.co.uk.
