Struggling Airline Adds To Capacity Issue

Mar 21, 2019 | News

Following the closure of Pakistan airspace last week, causing delays in air freight movements from Pakistan and Northern India, the capacity issues from the region have been further affected by this week’s much publicised struggles for airline Jet Airways.

India’s government has called for an emergency meeting as India’s number two airline plunged into deeper crisis following numerous groundings, hundreds of cancelled flights, and pilots threatening to go on strike over unpaid salaries.

Combined with Pakistan’s extension to their air space closure this week, capacity from the region has reduced further. The issues continue to make air freight movements challenging for the industry, which inevitably has an impact on spot pricing.

Uniserve’s Regional General Management (RGM) team for the Indian Sub-continent continue to work to minimise the impact to our customers and we will keep related parties updated with progress.
