Uniserve donates unused Christmas food to local homeless charity

As with many businesses, the emergence of the new Omicron variant in December led to the team at our Felixstowe Mega Distribution Centre cancelling their Christmas party.
Rather than lose the deposit, Andy Tattersall – Business Leader for Container Services – was keen to donate the meals to a good cause.
He got in touch with Helping Hands Suffolk, which provides support to those in need in the community.
Jill Farmer, the founder of Helping Hands Suffolk (pictured above with Andy Tattersall), was delighted with the donation.
‘We made up over 70 dinners and have frozen them ready to be cooked. [These will] go out on our befriending sessions, feeding the homeless and vulnerable in our communities,’ she said. ‘I think we will be covered for most of January.’
Established in 2016, Helping Hands Suffolk is a non-profit organisation with charitable aims. It befriends, supports and cares for some of society’s most vulnerable people.
‘The food donation has and will continue to bridge the hungry gap for many this month,’ Jill said. ‘Let me express how grateful I am, as I know all those who receive these meals will be.’
