Ten and Counting for Scott
When Scott joined us, back in February 2008, Amy Winehouse was in the music charts with Valerie, and the UK government were in the process of nationalising Northern Rock Bank during the infamous credit crunch. In football, Blackburn Rovers and Portsmouth were flying high in the Premier League, with both of the current league one teams hovering above Man City at the time.
What do you remember about your first week? Scott: “I remember being slightly nervous about what value I could bring to such an established and innovative company. I was welcomed by all, although being sat closest to the exit door, directly in front of Iain Liddell’s office (Group MD) was a little concerning early on.”
What do you think has changed in the industry in the past 10 years? Scott: “The industry has become far more reliant on IT systems and clients have much more need in terms of reporting. These days we control the movement of both cargo & information, where one without the other is meaningless.”
What has changed in Uniserve in the past 10 years? Scott: “The expansion and continued growth of our services has been considerable in that period. The addition of group businesses, like UniOcean and the Supply Chain Academy, enable us to provide our clients with world class solutions throughout the entire supply chain.”
What do you feel are Uniserve’s strengths? Scott: Most definitely the staff. We have a collective drive and enthusiasm to be innovative, and to provide seamless solutions with a personal touch that many of our clients appreciate. Additionally, the continuous investment in technology and our own internally developed supply chain systems are a major strength. We often provide solutions that are unique to us and that others are unable to match.”
