New Tilbury-Calais Roro Service Announced

A new ro-ro ferry service between Tilbury and Calais is due to launch later this month, which adds a new option for freight movements to and from the UK’s South and the Midlands. The new route, is expected to help maintain supply chains in the event of a disorderly Brexit.
P&O Ferries are reported to have chartered the ro-ro vessel ‘Caroline Russ’ to service the route, which will provide an eight hour crossing for two sailings every weekday and one each on Saturday and Sunday.
The new service is being implemented ahead of the completion of a new £150 million pound ro-ro terminal, which is expected to be operational from April next year. The ‘Tilbury2’ project is expected to bring much needed port capacity for businesses trading with Europe and may provide an alternative solution to Dover post Brexit.
The announcement is great news for Uniserve and its customers, as our main UK distribution centre in Tilbury is little more than a stone’s throw from the port. With the new development and the emergence of nearby London Gateway port, Tilbury is fast becoming central to UK logistics.
Uniserve provide an extensive range of European services, which were recognised when winning the much coveted BIFA European Logistics Award earlier this year, for more information please email info@ugroup.co.uk or call 01375 856060.
