Logistics Awards Finalists
The 2017 Logistics Awards, organised by SHD Logistics, has announced the Uniserve Group as a finalist for the prestigious ‘Future Skills’ Award – in recognition of its work creating a first-of-its-kind Degree Apprenticeship in supply chain management.
The Logistics Awards recognise operational excellence within the logistics and supply chain sectors, and gives a very public seal of approval to an organisation’s activities. Winners will be announced at the awards event on 21 September 2017 at London’s Grange St Paul’s Hotel.
Uniserve and the Supply Chain Academy worked in partnership with 150 employers (including competitors), universities and professional bodies to create the standard and end-point assessment for this ‘business-led’ degree apprenticeship.
This unique qualification enables new apprentices or existing employees to achieve a full bachelor’s or master’s degree on completion, whilst being employed throughout. Due to be available from September 2017, the qualification will cover areas including supply chain management, purchasing, procurement and risk management.
Uniserve have always embraced change to stay ahead of the market and its competitors; running exceptional staff development training courses through its ‘business-led’ Supply Chain Academy (SCA) at their world-class training facility in Upminster, Essex. The Supply Chain Academy specialises in the provision of high quality education and skills development for supply chain professionals and has worked with various clients including Mitsubishi Electric, Thomson Reuters & Majestic Wine.
Apprenticeships:
From 6 April 2017 the way the UK government funds apprenticeships in England has changed – employers operating in the UK that have an annual pay bill over £3 million each year are required to contribute to a new ‘apprenticeship levy’. They can claim the levy back, but only if they invest in apprenticeships.
For more information on the awards, the degree apprenticeship or general apprenticeship advice please contact the Supply Chain Academy’s Alex Mortimer or Paul Stone on info@supplychainacademy.org.uk or call 01708 259 450.
