EORI – Be Ready For Brexit

Aug 17, 2018 | Brexit

Last week the UK’s international trade secretary – Liam Fox – suggested the odds were 60/40 against a trade agreement being in place with the EU, therefore a ‘hard Brexit’ currently seems most likely.

One of the consequences of a hard Brexit will be full Customs declarations for all of the UK’s European movements. An estimated 150-180,000 UK companies only trade with Europe and may be unfamiliar with customs procedures.

Customs entries will require an Economic Operator Registration and Identification (EORI) Number. There is no extra administration in having an EORI number, it just means importers and exporters will be ready should the need arise.

If you do not currently have this in place, then Uniserve provide a service for a small fee to make the application for you. It may be prudent to consider this early – to avoid the inevitable last minute administration delays should a hard Brexit ensue.

Whatever the political outcome, Uniserve will continue to develop and provide our full range of quality European roadfreight services through the UniEurope Pan European Logistics Partnership.

For more information on applying for an EORI number, or to get competitive pricing on European logistics, then please do not hesitate to call 01375 856060 or email info@ugroup.co.uk.
