CCP 100th Anniversary Impacts Air Freight

Uniserve is advising its customers that celebrations in China commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party will result in temporary restrictions on and delays in air cargo services. 1st July 2021 is the actual anniversary, however festivities in China will run from the 26th June to 5th July. Most of the country’s airports will impose some restrictions between these dates, and we are seeing slightly heightened security and some restrictions on flight numbers.
This is going to be one of the biggest events of the year in China and thus security checks will be more extensive compared with other festivals, which will have an impact on airfreight.
All major airports will either reject receipt, or receive but hold, any cargo which is too large to fit through terminal x-ray machines. The length of restriction will vary by airport, between 25th June and 3rd July.
Port conditions average waiting time:
Shanghai WGQ: Congestion continues and the average waiting time for a berth has remained around 2 days. On 20 Jun @ 0001hrs until 2 Jul @ 2359hrs, all non-essential DG land transportation is suspended. This means customers will not able to pick up or deliver DG boxes from/to the terminal. Also, from 29 Jun @ 0001hrs to 2 Jul @ 2359hrs, DG operations will be suspended for IMO 1, 6 (high toxicity) & 7, as well as those with package Group I.
Terminal waiting time:
Terminal | Average Waiting Time |
W1 | 1.5 days |
W2/3 | 0.5 days |
W4 | 2 days |
W5/6 | 1 day |
Ningbo: Terminal congestion has improved with a waiting time of around 1-1.5 days, although MSICT is the exception with waiting around 2.5-3 days for a berth.
Terminal waiting time:
Terminal | Average Waiting Time |
NBCT | 1 day |
NBSCT | 1.5 days |
BLCT3 | 1 day |
CMICT | 2 days |
MSICT | 2.5 – 3 days |
YZCT | 0.5 days |

In the meantime, we hope our customers, colleagues, family and friends in China enjoy the anniversary festivities.
