New Futuristic Electric Truck

by | Nov 17, 2017

Electric carmaker Tesla unveiled a sleek futuristic electric truck prototype at its design studio in California yesterday, which has been making headlines through global media channels today.

The truck will offer 400 miles of range with just a 30-minute charge from a “megacharger”, and its operating cost per mile is claimed to be 20 percent below that of conventional diesel trucks. Using an autopilot system, Tesla suggest that several trucks can form a convoy on motorways, driving the operating cost down further.

The truck is due to go into production in 2019, so is not due to be available until 2020. However, reports suggest that Tesla are already taking $5,000 reservations for the vehicle, that they claim will be the safest, most comfortable truck ever.

Other features offered include automatic braking, lane tracking, and “nuclear explosion-proof glass” for the windshield, while it was stated that every truck they sell will have enhanced autopilot as standard.

According to YouCar’s video (below), the truck, without trailer, will achieve 0-60mph in 5 seconds, compared to 15 seconds in a comparable diesel truck.

As Uniserve continually invest in the newest and highest quality equipment with the most advanced technology, we will be monitoring the developments closely. Electric trucks at this stage are not proving to be a realistic means of distribution, largely due to issues with range and battery.
