Major disruptions in Bangladesh as IT outages cause grounding of flights
The government of Bangladesh has mandated a complete halt to all internet connections across the country from today (18th July) due to the ongoing political unrest.
Huge protests have descended into deadly violence as at least 13 have died in clashes on Thursday night. Students have been up in arms against a quota system for the allocation of government jobs, which resulted in riot police battling with the protesters.
In addition to the disruption, major IT outages are hitting industries across the world, with airlines and media outlets affected. Microsoft says it is taking mitigation action but the cause of the outage hasn’t been confirmed.
