Baltimore bridge collapses following container ship collision

The Francis Scott Key Bridge, in Baltimore, USA, was hit by a container ship carrying around 4,900 containers early on Tuesday morning.
A large section of the bridge collapsed and multiple vehicles fell into the water, prompting an immediate search and rescue operation.
Following the tragic accident, East Coast freight movements are expected to be significantly impacted due to the suspension of the Port of Baltimore. At least 10 commercial ships were reported to have stopped their journeys towards the Port of Baltimore, which is renowned for handling a large volume of imports and exports in the USA.
A state of emergency has been declared by the state’s governor, with emergency services carrying out rescue operations.
